WIPO Reports a Second Straight Year of Growth in International Patent Filings

The World Intellectual Property Organization said global patent activity continued to expand in 2025, with international applications filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty rising to 275,900, a 0.7% increase from the previous year.[3]

The figures point to sustained demand for cross-border protection of technological inventions, even as companies face slower economic growth and tighter innovation budgets in some markets.[3]
