China-Russia Patent Fast-Track Becomes Permanent
Russia’s patent office and China’s patent authority have made their accelerated examination program for invention applications permanent, strengthening cross-border patent cooperation between two major technology markets.[1]
The arrangement applies to patent applications for inventions and is intended to speed up examination in both countries, which can shorten the path from filing to decision for applicants seeking protection in the world’s two largest Eurasian economies.[1]
This move adds to broader global patent activity: WIPO reported that international PCT patent filings continued to rise in 2025 for the second year in a row, reaching 275,900 applications worldwide.[3]
