Russia’s Fast-Track Patent Route Targets Environmental Technologies
Russia’s patent office began using an accelerated examination mechanism in March 2026 for inventions and utility models related to environmental technologies, cutting expected registration times to as little as one month for utility models and two months for inventions.[3]
The move is notable because it places green-tech patenting on a faster timeline at a time when governments are under pressure to speed up commercialization of climate and environmental innovations.[3]
According to the report, the measure is already in effect from March 2026 and is intended to help developers secure protection more quickly for environmentally oriented technical solutions.[3]
